FIG & THISTLE
Fig & Thistle was started by two best friends in 2013 as a tiny hole in the wall wine bar focused on California wine, and has become a mini-empire of a wine bar, wine shop, and newly a dispensary (celebrating their other favorite California plant). Both Angel and Nguey grew up in the city and wanted to celebrate the wines of the state they grew up in, and the heritage of SF (the market is in the space that used to be home to Nguey's grandmother's deli for almost thirty years). Angel has arranged artisanal, artistic, romantic spaces, and the selection leans towards natural, but is broad, including a good selection of sake. Mainly, Fig & Thistle is about comfort, a chill vibe, and fun.
Minimo
minimo is a neighborhood wine shop celebrating small-production wines that exhibit a true expression of their origins. The shop promotes independent and family-owned wineries that follow sustainable practices in their farming, sourcing, winemaking and workforce. minimo is Italian for minimal. Our name reflects our commitment to minimal-intervention wines: minimal in the field, minimal in the bottle.
minimo is dedicated to connecting people with the stories behind its unique wines, and building a community of people passionate about wine regardless of expertise level. At minimo the wine buying experience is personal, accessible, and engaging. More than just a retail wine shop, minimo is also a neighborhood gathering space for the community to enjoy and learn about wine.
Wine Down SF
Wine Down SF is a minority women-owned bar in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood that serves awesome, local wine, beer, and food. We help you “wine down” your day while also bringing wine down to earth.
Wine Down features a short, frequently rotating list from small, independent California producers. We pride ourselves on finding the best stuff at a reasonable price, so you can get a good glass of wine for about ten bucks. We choose to partner with people who put as much love into their products as we do to Wine Down. We know most of the winemakers and brewers on our list personally. We support other small minority and women-owned businesses whenever possible.
Most importantly, Wine Down is and always will be a place for people to gather and feel welcome, comfortable, and appreciated. As minority women business owners, we want to help create a world that values, protects, and champions women, people of color, LGBT communities, immigrants, and everyone in between.
